A few days ago i was thinking about some fancy way to finish this riding season. Doing some crazy things like 1000 miles in 24h was not in my top list until I visited Iron butt website. A quick check and no rv125 or vanvan in the hall of fame.
I could not believe my eyes, doublechecked, triple checked. None. I still don't believe it, so guys check again if you can. Maybe I am doing this wrong.
Anyways. I thought being the first was always pleasant.
People enjoy their vanvans all around the globe and no one did it? There is smth wrong with that. Let's go.
My route was a circle: Budapest-Wien-Prague-Munich-Salzburg-Budapest. 1640km according to Google maps. In reality i covered a bit more by taking wrong turns a couple of times. It happened because I planned some distant fuel ups in local villages to elongate the route and navigating was tricky. Otherwise it would be less than 1600 km if I don't go these places. And local sightseeings are always a plus.
All in all I did 10 fuel ups in 4 countries. I started at 01:25 on the 01 of October and finished same day at 22:12 at the initial starting point.
Starting point in Budapest - first fuel up.
1st refuel - Nickelsdorf, Austria
2nd refuel - Moravske Budejovice, Czech Republic
3rd refuel - Zlicin, Czech Republic
4th refuel - Weiden in der Oberpfalz, Germany
5th refuel - Dietersheim, Germany
6th refuel - Salzburg, Austria
7th refuel - Oberegging, Austria
8th refuel - Nickelsdorf, Austria
9th refuel - Budapest, Hungary
My setup included standard rv125, no mods or windshield, 2 zippo hand warmers for pockets, iphone for navigation + power bank, tire repair kit, standard set of instruments, rain gear just in case, full motorcycle gear and 5 l fuel canister. Though never used, as gas stations were quite frequent. Nevertheless it was great not to have that range anxiety when low fuel light was on).
The whole trip was built around overcoming anxieties of all sorts: weather, technical issues, time, range, physical condition etc. Like that, I managed to make it an enjoyable adventure.
Here are few pics (i don`t have any awesome dusk or dawn photos for you, sorry, just technicals).
1. Starting ODO readings, photo from my garage.
2. Actual start of the trip, made a photo later at home.
3. About 2 Hours from the start later in Austria
4. Near Prague, Czech Republic
5. Germany
6. On the way back Austrian-Hungarian border
7. Finish
A have some more pics of receipts from other places, but maybe thats enough for this topic.
Cheers and a have lovely rides everyone.
